How do I perform a Dxdiag and how do I get the file?

DirectX Diagnostic Tool helps you troubleshoot issues with the DirectX suite of multimedia technologies that come with Windows. If you're having trouble getting game animation to run properly, you should run DirectX Diagnostic Tool to try to find the source of the problem.

This tool is used to collect info about devices to help troubleshoot problems with DirectX sound and video. A support person might ask for this info, or you might post it in a forum when you ask for help.

  • In Windows, search for dxdiag, then select it from the results.

  • In the tool, select Save All Information for an easily shared format.

  • Open the text document and send us the text within your request or save txt document. Please try zipping up the file using a .zip or . rar program, and upload that file with your reply. (Maximum file size for upload is 10 MB, maximum time allotted for upload is 5 minutes. If the upload times out, please try a faster connection.)
